NAIDOC Week | School Holiday Activities

Join us as at The Park Centre as we celebrate NAIDOC week this July school holidays! We have planned a series of activities and workshops that showcase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and the theme of this year’s NAIDOC Week – ‘Because of Her, We Can!’

 

Welcome to Country & Traditional Dance with Shaun Nannup

Sunday 8 July, 11am

We will usher in festivities and recognise the past and present custodians of this land with a Welcome to Country by Shaun Nannup, followed by a traditional dance. 

 

Aboriginal Music Workshop with Ronaldo Dick

Monday 9 July, 11am 

Enjoy a one-hour learning journey into the amazing sounds of Aboriginal culture. Led by Ronaldo Dick, this workshop will teach children about the history of traditional Aboriginal songs and of course, how to sing them!  Recommended for ages 7-14.

 

Bush Tucker Workshop and tastings with Tahn Donovan

Wednesday 11 July, 11am and 2pm

Dive into an Aboriginal culinary food adventure with Tahn Donovan! Learn how to cook Aboriginal bush foods and the origins of the native ingredients used. Recommended for ages 7-14. 

 

Storytelling Sessions with Josie Boyle

Sunday 14 July, 11am and 2pm. 

Led by Josie Boyle, these one-hour sessions will take listeners on a rich journey back in time to discover stories associated with this year’s NAIDOC theme. Josie is a Wonghi woman, featured on ABC's 5 Nations' dreaming stories and has published a children's books. Recommended for all ages.
