NAIDOC Week | School Holiday Activities


Join us as at Hawaiian's Melville as we celebrate NAIDOC Week this July school holidays! We have planned a series of activities and workshops that showcase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and the theme of this year’s NAIDOC Week – Because of Her, We Can!


Storytelling Sessions with Kevin Fitzgerald 

Tuesday 10 July, 11am and 2pm. 

Led by Kevin Fitzgerald, director of the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council, these one-hour sessions will take listeners on a rich journey back in time to discover stories that are associated with this year’s NAIDOC theme. Recommended for all ages.


Welcome to Country & Traditional Dance with Kevin Fitzgerald 

Wednesday 11 July, 11am

We will usher in festivities and recognise the past and present custodians of this land with a Welcome to Country by Kevin Fitzgerald, followed by a traditional dance performance. 


Aboriginal Music Workshop with Kobi Morrison

Friday 13 July, 10.30am 

Enjoy a one-hour learning journey into the amazing sounds of Aboriginal culture. Led by Kobi Morrison, this workshop will teach children about the history of traditional Aboriginal songs and of course, how to sing them!  Recommended for ages 7-14.
